Your brain is a pattern recognizer, and thus will only look for patterns that you recognize.

For example, if your favorite number is 37, you're going to see that number EVERYWHERE. Why? Because your brain is filtering 37 from everything else.

Ever notice how you always spot YOUR car model? It's the same principle.

Our brains are literally wired to create patterns and stories with those patterns, so randomly recognizing a letter / date / license plate / time stamp, etc. usually does not mean anything.
