People working for those companies are ones who have to implement it only. Any serious IT engineer who would be asked to make such system probably wouldn't be using punny QR codes when you can use connection to database using better ways.

I am not in IT,but I know that. Why even to bother to scan QR,it is terrible idea from engineering point of view when you have everything connected to the net. Only some boomer manager (maybe Bill Gates personally) could invent that.
