"Johnheretohelp" does not understand the system nor the responses required by the President to activate the nuclear response system. The responses are not "memorized" nor does the President need to do anything other than give the order to "activate the response system". He then simply reads letters and numbers from a set of index cards while on a secure conference call to NORAD. If he is whacked out and yammering gibberish, then at that time he/she/zer/sim may be declared "incapacitated" by the NORAD commander or SecDef, etc. if there is an imminent attack, our response will go forward on that basis. I've written here and on Voat about this subject many times -- but you folks just wring your hands and do a Chicken Little without the facts.
