A few years ago when my late sister was dying from cancer, she couldn't get a hospital bed near her home. This was due to an exceptionally severe flu season. Her husband had to take her many many miles away to a different hospital. It was very hot and the drive was very uncomfortable for her. This happened WAAAAY before this pandemic.

If any pol or bureaucrat from the Industrial Medical Complex whines about the ICUs being filled to capacity, I have ZERO sympathy. To them it's all about costs and not getting enough revenue back from prescribing stuff that works.
