His administration came under heavy scrutiny last year and severe pressure from a right wing movement led by a certain christian pastor. This guy organised a protest against the gov closing businesses for the chyna virus.
Now bear in mind that even now koreans are terrified of the Rona. Everyone wears masks everywhere, especially outside and they still think positive test=death. Kids tell me all the time they are scared they're gonna die. You should see what happens if someone briefly removes a mask during class.
Anyway after this protest happened some of the protesters tested positive which led to a massive witch hunt for the other protesters who also tested positive. Long story short "super spreader event" pastor and his entire movement is villified and Moon Jae-In comes out looking like a hero.
This was my first wake up moment with the virus. The next, not long after was the Demon floyd riots.
