It is more prevalent in black American culture than anywhere else. Describing it as average could have certain connotations if you are looking for them but that is not how I took his comment. Stereotypes exist for a reason, I respect you for valuing the truth so please don't interpret my comment as antagonistic but I feel like your last sentence needs to be addressed as it implies that the issue is one dimensional when in reality is it is a nuanced and sensitive subject.
