"Democratic" is an adjective, here. Which stands in contrast to a government by the Aristos, the Aristocracy. This is what I mean in the prior posts that we are "little D democratic".
We have a Republic. It is a Federal Republic with checks and balances that is designed to limit power in just about every way (across, up, down, etc.). In fact it is the most perfect ever formed, and I marvel at the intelligence that was employed in creating it. The system enables us to soar as individuals, yet that same system thwarts those who would enslave us. Truly amazing, and I stand in awe of the wisdom of our Founders.
Our Founders hated the idea of a Democracy, because they rightly knew that all Democracies throughout history have failed. Athens, for example. Our founders were very familiar with the histories of Athens and the other Democracies. All perished in fire of their own making.
Sic semper tyrannis.
However, our Republic is a participatory form of Republic, where the populace votes (for the Electors in the Electoral College, in the case of a President, for example). Voters vote for everything from dog catcher up to POTUS. The word in Greek for the Populace is Demos. Therefore, a government by the people, for the people, is therefore always "democratic". But is not per force a Democracy. We therefore here have a Federal Republic with democratic voting/participation (e.g. it is "democratic"), not a Democracy.
And yes, tyrants are scum. Liars are scum. Not American.
