I do indeed in past times been very untrustworthy of my gut, not knowing it was the Holy Spirit warning me to steer clear of something. I'm more apt to suffer alongside friends even when I know their choices are poor so you would be right in that. The Holy Spirit indeed gave you that. I do need to be more strengthened in stepping away and letting the consequences before people's choices be their own instead of mine. Unfortunately carried on with friends hurting me a lot and letting it go often when I should have stepped back and said, "no you're gonna have to take that hit all on your own cause that ain't for me. "
