I thought the same thing you were saying about the movies, they were being open about it so normies would say "Dude, it's just a tshirt."

Also consider we were at a stage where info on the internet was more accessible, and documentaries like Loose Change and JFK2 were out and in circulation.

At the same time, "The Secret" was around, telling everyone to focus on happy thoughts to attract good. (Not saying its entirely wrong, but in contrast to a theorist who found Loose Change, The Secret was a great way to block someone from eating a red pill)
