Instead of stating "I don't watch the news" and then listing examples from the news is tripping these people up because they are taking it literally. So OP could've said "I don't believe the news" then cite examples of why it was fake but then it wouldn't have been collected as evidence against Q supporters anyhow. I suppose you could try and and tell them the OP was not being literal but I doubt it will help.
