I say: well, duh. Any software can and will be hacked (I am a software system architect that specializes in secure systems). If you want an accurate election, you must use old-school techniques that are immune to hacking.
There are still ways to cheat (as we all saw with the massive dumps of pallets of fake ballots at 3 AM) but with certain safeguards to also prevent mail-in voting, and a hard cutoff of votes ON ELECTION DAY, that type of election fraud is fairly easy to catch.
When I see people talking about a block-chain voting systems, I literally cringe. Settle for nothing less than paper ballots, linked indelibly to each voter. Private ballots should replace anonymous secret ballots, and voting should be treated like a financial transaction with receipts and a full audit trail.
