A very thoughtful comment to ponder. And I will.
However, the Chinese were doing this way before Mao and the Great Leap Forward that killed 40-70 million people. It's cultural. It may even be DNA. They seem to lack empathy and compassion, and are capable of horrific cruelty.
I live near San Francisco, and have had a lot of contact with Chinese. And many of their tendencies and habits are extremely distasteful. I didn't have that opinion of them until I lived in San Francisco.

The Intense Chinese Execution Method Called 'Slow-Slicing' or 'Lingchi"

Lingchi, translated as everything from "death by a thousand cuts" to "slow slicing," is a Chinese form of slow torture execution that was practiced for hundreds of years - well into the 20th century. Essentially, execution by lingchi involved the condemned individual having their body slowly, carefully, and painstakingly cut up by an executioner - while they were still alive. It also incorporated live (obviously un-anesthetized) amputations.
