Okay I read the book Savage Harvest years ago. At the time I naively thought the Rockefeller’s were “good guys.” He was there to collect tribal art…supposedly. Your It makes sense given the Rockefeller’s are cannibals and so are the locals in Papa New Guinea. Maybe the son was learning some new cooking skills. It sure looks like Hanks.
