So an American director of counter intel at the CIA defects to Russia... and you think the CIA doesn't know his name? That's the equivalent position this guy had. He was one step away from the head of the CIA. His name being public doesn't really matter. Everyone in that world knows exactly who this guy is and what he did. They all knew 5-10 days after he disappeared to a DIA safe-house. His name going public is just the inevitable result of how massive a deal this really is.
