Yeup. Same experiences here fellow Canuck. The niceness we Canadians have is just cultural ettiquettes. True kindness extends beyond holding a door or saying please, stuff that's expected. Kindness comes from going above and beyond societal norms, and yes, people from the South are way kinder than the hillbillies in movies make them out to be. Certainly kinder than Canadians, imo, who at most spare a few passing words.
