I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say I genuinely think they do have the capacity. But there's quite a few things that are affecting their thinking right now. Other than propaganda being streamed nonstop, their diet consisting of some of the worst things I've heard of, and being indoctrinated in schools when they're not at home doing mindless, repetitive tasks, there's the issue of medication.
They're numb to thoughts and numb to genuine emotions. They have feelings, but they're more reactions or impulses, and I'd say a lot has to do with just that. Medication. Many of these kids treated for things like ADHD are on a legalized form of meth, with Adderall only having one CH3 group to differentiate it.
I reckon it's still there, because I see snippets of creativity here and there, but it's all bogged down by so much superfluous crap that I can't expect them to be functioning any more than I can expect Stacy to compete at an athletic pace without her bat utility belt.
