There is a similar document published by the JCOS dated April 2018. They are fairly similar in many respects and I can't speak much to the difference, but the JCOS version is longer and has zero graphics. It's easy to find on Google using the terms "us government counterinsurgency guide" or on jcs.mil. Sleepydude gets the credit, not me, especially for clarifying the whole "watch the water" thing on his graphic. I've tried to argue that issue many times but the graphic makes it much easier.
