Actually, it not the shortage so much as the prohibitive cost. Last thousand .556 I bought was around $850.00 whereas before the rush, I paid the around $330.00 for the same thing.
People that are just now figuring out they might need a gun, a faced with massive sticker shock with they go to get ammo.
