That number seems a bit too high for now, man. 500,000 is like 1/7 of our population nationally.
With most being concentrated in blue areas, the rate of those dying in cities and blue states would be far higher than 1/7.
I don't buy that high of a number in the US just yet.
Edit: whoops. Should be 1 in 700 nationally so my math was off by a lot. But it still seems somewhat high, I expect deaths to go up during the next flu season, but not so many yet.
