"This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God"

~1 John 4:2-3

Jesus was 100% God, and 100% Man. No contradiction there - just a mystery.

When Jesus said "Before Abraham was, I AM" the religious leaders immediately picked up stones to kill him. Why? Because they new - clear as day - what Jesus was claiming: Equality with God/Yahweh. That (Blasphemy) was punishable by death.

There are MANY more examples proving both the divinity AND humanity of Jesus.

Almost every single title that Yahweh attributed to Himself in the Old Testament, Jesus attributed to himself in the New Testament.

  • Yahweh said He was light of the world/Jesus said he was the light of the world

  • Yahweh said HE was the Good Shepard/Jesus said HE was the Good Shepperd

  • Yahweh said HE was the Bread of Life/Jesus said HE was the Bread of Life

  • Yahweh said HE was the Gate through which Eternal life was achieved/Jesus said HE was the Gate through which eternal life was obtained

  • Yahweh said that HE was the Living Water/Jesus said HE was the Living Water "and the one who drinks the water I give him will never thirst again."

...and on and on and on.

When reading the Bible one must remove their 21st century reading glasses and put on their 1st century, 2nd Temple, Jewish reading glasses. THEN the Bible's pages will jump out at you like a child pop up book.

By the way, just because the Bible doesn't mention a certain term doesn't mean that the concept that term represents isn't taught in the scriptures.

Jesus, as the 2nd person of the Trinity, always existed (see John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." Jesus = the "Word"). But Jesus, AS MAN, was begotten. When talking about Jesus, one must take his dual natures into consideration: He was 100% Man AND 100% God. This is what is referred to as the "Hypostatic Union."

He was the perfect God-Man.
