I also know what you mean about internal power elite factions fighting between themselves. You might think it odd, but I actually read Manly P. Hall's authoritative book from the 20's on the history of the ancient mystery cults, The Secret Teachings of All Ages. Manly himself sure looks like he's possessed by the dark side, but in any case he was of the opinion that many of those societies and practices were either susceptible to their own kind of corruption or had already been infiltrated and corrupted, badly in some instances. I'm not sure he would recognize it all today. Maybe Trump is trying to restore it, like the ancient Roman emperors who tried reviving the morality of the realm after heavy decay had settled in.
