I personally know of many people who handed in their guns and many more who grew up with guns being a normal part of life. A mate in childhood remembers having loaded shotguns at either end of his house to (rightly or wrongly) deal with the abundant brown snakes on his farm. I live in the bush. I’ve many friends with registered firearms. I don’t think Aussies have fought with guns since the Eureka Stockade. The only Americans fighting with guns are the gangs. The beautiful thing about gun ownership in the USA is it’s the great equaliser. Someone as diminutive as Lauren Boebert can defend herself from a 7ft 130kg rapist. Not so the Oz girls. Edit to add: American patriots mostly fight with words and fists too, increasingly the latter lately with the antifags lol
