So, my MIL was an ICU nurse for over 40 years and just retired 5 years ago. I KNOW my MIL was/is an excellent nurse, and if it was a life or death situation (not Covid related 😂) I would want my MIL or someone like her on my medical team. Having said that, she’s still in contact w/ a lot of her old coworkers and a lot of them have been working in the “Covid ICU” and telling her how terrible it is since the very beginning and that they’ve never seen anything like it before, and so, of course, she believes them and I don’t blame her. I don’t think they’re bad people and trying to push any type of agenda and I think they probably are getting patients that are really sick and dying. I’ve tried to tell her that the reason people are dying horrible deaths that no one has ever witnessed before is probably because, in our current society, we’ve never treated sick people like this before so, of course, it’s different. We’ve never told people to wait until they’re on deaths door to go to the ER and then once in the hospital we’ve never withheld treatments that we know work. She still insists that Covid is real because she believes her coworkers. Yet some part of her does see how politicized it all is and how they keep changing “the rules” and how the things they’ve implemented in the public sector are retarded and obviously don’t stop any virus (ex. wearing a mask to walk to your table in a restaurant 🙄). Any insight as to what’s going on or a better explanation than the one I gave her?
