Very much like the recent Russian ammo ban, this is not something thinktanked by Rand Corp. but more like a snarky 30-something White House staff idea. It is not deeply complex nor inescapable. A good deepstate tactic would be both and once you saw it coming it would be too late.
Third, you can make your own gun. Parts kits, 80% frame/receiver completion, and 3D printed (FGC-9), or even simple a WW2 Filippino pipegun can be made by anyone at any skill level. The gun control house has burned downed and nothing but smoking rubble remains. And all this on top of millions upon millions of never papered private sales. The Left knows this and is powerless to do anything.
Fourth, who is going to come take them? The State does not have the manpower to do it. Even if everyone in the military, police, sheriff, private security contractors, etc. was dragooned you are still millions upon millions of people short to do it. And if they try word is out and other gun owners would have a response. And after that response greets a few siezure teams enthisiasm would drop, fast.
