The idea to meet up is good, but not at a library or at the given time. Probably a community park would be ideal. Or even a local VFW or American Legion post (just brainstorming).

Also, ham radio operators will likely be a Godsend. I have my dad's but I'm not licensed (then again, when SHTF would it really matter at that point?).
