Is there anyway to break her routine for a few days? A surprise vacation, go visit go friends (hopefully in some beautiful backwoods area). Agree to no media, social or otherwise for a few days and disappear into the woods. I bet she will fell better after that. If she is non-religious as your post seem to indicate, being in the glory of nature can help focus that energy (source: I am non-religious also and nature helps connect me to the universe).

Finally, if the situation does start to get more than she can handle, or even before that you can call 800-273-8255 which is the suicide prevention hotline. This service is free, it is non-political, non cabal (never seen anything bad about it and know two good folks who have volunteered). You can call, she can call, you two can call together. They are there to help you and her deal with that unnatural urge. They have no judgment and can be a sounding board. You may want to call (you can do it from a public or payphone if you are a paranoia weirdo like me).

Her life is the most important thing do everything you can to save it, including asking for help. I can do almost anything (build a room on my house, make my beloved lawnmower get up to 25 MPH, rewire my toaster to have my toast have a cool pattern in it) but I have a problem asking for help. But just as sometimes you need to let Jesus take the wheel, it may help to talk to someone who understands this better than we do.

Edit - and literally the new feed I have on my main page just feed me this article https://greatergood.berkeley.edu/article/item/how_nature_helps_us_heal?utm_source=pocket-newtab
