Fruits and vegetables are not nearly as good for you as many people claim.

They are actually LOW in nutrients ... for HUMANS. The key is not the amount of something in them. The key is the BIOAVAILABILITY of that something for HUMANS. Nobody ever talks about this.

For example, soy has the highest protein of any plant food. But, only about 5% of that protein is absorbed by the human body to utilize. Egg protein is 98% absorbed. On top of that, soy and all other plants are missing essential amino acids. ALL plant foods are missing aminio acids, and what they have are in the wrong proportions for humans. Eggs and ALL animal foods have ALL the essential amino acids, and they are in the right proportions for humans.

Our stomachs are the most acidic of any mammal, at 1.5 ph level. Our stomachs are designed to break up proteins and fats, not carbohydrates. We have ZERO bacteria in our stomachs, unlike cows who have billions of bacteria in the first chamber of their stomachs. Bacteria are the ONLY thing on planet Earth that can digest cellulose. Our bacteria for this are in our colon -- at the END of our digestive system, not the beginning.

Vitamin A - There are NO plant foods with Vitamin A. A few have beta carotene, and some people can covert some of it to Vit. A, but not everyone can, and it is not efficient.

Vitamin B complex - Plants do not have B12.

Vitamin C - Meat is thought to have no Vit. C, but that is because they never tested for it back when all those charts were created. It turns out, meat does have some.

Vitamin D - This was misidentified when it was discovered. It is not a vitamin. It is a hormone. Our bodies use sunlight to convert cholesterol to Vit. D. Plants do not have animal hormones.

Iron - Spinach has the most iron of any plant food. But it is the wrong kind for humans. It is non-heme iron, which is not easily absorbed by humans. Beef has heme iron, which is the right kind. You have to eat 10 cups of spinach to get the same amount of iron absorbed as if you eat 3 ounces of beef.

Zinc - Oysters have the most zinc of any food. But if you eat those oysters with corn and beans, the anti-nutrients in the corn and beans will block the absorption of any of that zinc.

There has NEVER been a study that showed that vegetables are actually healthy for you. For an interesting lecture on this, check out Dr. Georgia Eads:
