I must be a dolt... what's wrong with saying "Asian food" ?

I am 100 pct Italian, and I ask my family, "What should we plan to eat this week? We can do Italian Wednesday night... what about Asian on Friday?"

Edit: btw, I realize "Asian" is regional and "Italian" is country specific, but in my mind, they are genres of food, because there are many trypes of Italian food, similar to the many types of Asian food in that region.
