I have not gotten a concealed carry permit because I am concerned about landing myself in jail. In 55 years I have not needed a gun for self-defense yet. I have friends who won't leave their house without one though. Also as a CDL driver I could not carry it either. Great point you make. There are times I will probably carry now, though
