A couple of tips:

  • Make a conveniently placed, raised bed. if it's not convenient for you, it's harder to keep at it.
  • Don't grow food that you don't like to eat. Many people grow things simply because they are easy or grow rapidly, but they don't actually eat them. So you end up wasting space.
  • Don't Overcrowd. Some people overcrowd to get "more food" but you end up will poor quality, smaller growth foods. (some plants like crowding though)
  • mulch you need mulch to protect the soil, hold water. etc.
  • Lighting, Water, Temperature, nutrient different plants need different lighting conditions, water, temp, and nutrient levels. Consider this BEFORE making your bed, or you may need to make things to help maintain the right amount of light. And end up will a bed where one type of plant thrives while others die.
