Theory: Epstein had the mosque built on "his" island because he considered himself to be a rabbi ONLY because the horrors that he chaired in the tunnels below were so Satanic that he wanted to believe Orthodox Talmudic Jewish teachings that claim rabbis enjoy a free pass into heaven, no matter how Satanic they are.

I suspect Epstein enjoyed believing he would kick open the Gates and spit in Jesus Christ's face on the way in to Heaven.
