Anything not based in some sort of hard currency (be it metals, paper, etc) can be controlled more so than fiat currency. If the power goes its value is gone. If the internet goes is value is gone. If bad actors control the power the value is in their hands. If the bad actors control the internet the power of the value is in their hands.
