"Shingles" is what happens to adults who once had chicken pox lose their old immunity and the original pox comes back even worse. They aren't getting it again, they are getting the original chicken pox because it never left, but their immune system could no longer fight it.

Once you get chicken pix, you always have it. That's why you generally only get it once - your immense system can't completely kill it all but it learns how to fight it to a standstill so it can't make you sick, and stays that way forever. It only comes back if your immune system forgets how to fight it, or is weakened to much to fight it effectively - and then it comes back harder than it ever was before so we call it shingles.

This is also why shingles cases don't require exposure to someone with singles. Exposure usually happened years -decades - earlier.
