Once the strike team breached the capitol, I don't think there is any chance they would get to the VIPs without guns, no matter the number of people. If necessary the cops would set up machine gun nests and just mow down everyone.

The Babbit false flag didn't help things either, but thankfully didn't set off the Patriots that were there either.

Think about it, why would they fake it? What's easier, to hire actors and stage a fake shooting in the middle of this chaos or just tell the Capitol cops to shoot the first person that looks at them wrong?
