Producing computer chips demands the most precise design, engineering and manufacturing technology used in the history of mankind. It requires designers, engineers and technicians to be highly qualified in order to put out a product that’s very difficult to produce. If there are any flaws at all in the design, engineering or manufacturing; the chips simply won’t work. Any flaw in the design, engineering or manufacturing process tends to have quality control effect that are exponential effects. These effects can lead to a higher rejection rate for chips, can lead to chips that don’t function correctly or to chips that are not a competitive product in the chip marketplace.

In Taiwan, chip manufacturers are free to hire the most qualified managers, designers, engineers and technicians regardless of gender, sexuality or race. These employees are hired based on their knowledge, skills, precision and dedication to work. Taiwanese companies make no extra effort to hire people of color, people with alternative sexualities or under-qualified women. They simply hire people who can best do the job.

Any chip manufacturing operation set in United States will have to follow the demands of a diversity employment system. That means the best qualified, male, Asian-American candidates for a job will be pushed aside and other people will be hired for positions for which they are unqualified for. This will result in employees who are less competent at their jobs. They will make more mistakes and those companies chips will not be competitive.

Some will argue that there exceptions to what I’m saying. One example is Apple Computer that is doing most of their design work in the United States to put out their very competitive M series of chips. However, even Apple has to have most of their chips manufactured in Taiwan. That’s because the machines used to manufacture chips also require precise design, engineering and production.

Anyone who claims that the United States can easily and quicky start manufacturing high quality chips in United States is underestimating the challenge of that task.
