People are way too black and white about this issue. Sorry but the world is almost never one or the other…. It’s mostly always gray.

Man gets killed by a speeding drunk driver while crossing the street. Who is at fault? Obviously the drunk driver. Would the dead man still be alive if he had looked both ways before crossing and had not been staring at his phone? Yes. Drunk driver is at fault but if the man had been paying attention he would still be alive. In this case personal responsibility would have saved his life. It doesn’t mean he deserved it, it just means he would have been better off taking responsibility for his own safety. Drunk driver goes to prison but he's still fucking dead.
