Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I regret having missed it the first time around.
It appears that the US has not signed onto this convention although it has been being pushed for decades. Trying to figure out how some parks appear to be under it's jurisdiction. (convoluted search trail). This first link gives the timeline and the usual suspects : (please check out the other excellent info pages)

This link is to the organization itself. LOTS to get through here. I've linked directly to the page of participants, but please see the other pages, especially 'goals & milestones. SO much to interpret.
What????? FFS. I can't find a date on this report, but now will be digging into this. My father raised me an outdoorswoman, in the heart of the ADK. Lived on the edge of a lake, no road into our property, attended a K-6 grade 3 room school. I support whatever it takes to maintain the healthy co-existence of man and wilderness. To remove this honor from Americans is an affront and a danger. I can no longer physically enjoy this lifestyle, but I can sure as hell educate others about the loss of it.
