Grand Junction is nice (colorado). Get a nice rv/truck (we have nice 5'th wheel- prefer it over our prior motor homes) and travel the country. Stay in areas you like and compare. Since you have the luxury of working from wherever this is what I would do. My wife and I travel half time like this and meet lots of friendly people. There are plenty of people that work from their RV on computers that we have met. Traveling nurses are aplenty also. We don't have firm plans and just go where we like. It gets us out of california, and if you can document 6 months out of state you can avoid Ca state income taxes. (one night in S Dakota can get you resident status there). PS- concealed carry permits are easy to get there, but I believe it requires a 30 day stay in the state. Pick a nice RV park and enjoy.
