Reason: Corrected detail - still unverified

Around NZ, much land has been ceded to Maori to be held in trust but right of use to be retained by the Crown - this is used in reparations (we call it "Treaty settlements"), the land that Parliament and the grounds are situated on are owned by a Wellington Maori tribal (iwi) trust. I think it is Ngati Tama. I have been seeing for a couple of days now this rumour that the Maori Trust has issued a trespass notice to the Crown and the Police and given formal consent for the protesters to stay on Trust land as long as they want. I keep hunting for verification but the mockingbird media here are as bad if not worse than anywhere else so there is nothing I can put up as sauce. But it looks like the real leaders in Maoridom (not the fat cat oligarchs - but the true wise elders (kaumatua and kuia)) are not happy with seeing cops beat up Maori kids again. One major Maori leader - Dame Tariana Turia (a former Labour MP before she left in disgust with Helen Clark's government and set up a Maori party) has come out saying she is unvaxxed as she doesn't trust them and that she thinks the PM has lost any small moral authority she had. Back to the trespass, a few nights back, the cops were ready to go full Ottowa on the protesters then less than 24 hours later they backed right off and started talking about "peaceful resolution". Something might be changing for the better. I still feel very much that our nation's freedom is still hanging on by a thread - but this is a big development. Update - all I have found is this from the biggest Fake News publication in the country - https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/politics/300519255/wellingtons-tangata-whenua-want-protesters-to-leave - it's a debunk but it is contradictory in terms of saying that two different iwi own the land (obviously impossible). And Ngati Tama seem to me to be unlikely to be the owners as they are based north of Welly and in the SI. I would have thought it was as the debunk suggests - it would Te Atiawa or Ngati Toa. I'm not up on that stuff, so apologies if I got this wrong, but it is circulating a lot more than normal empty rumours do.
