If you are a hiring manager, find discrete ways to discern who your candidates are. We can infiltrate too.
EDIT: Here are some of the ways I have:
-
I'm always 100% passive in my approach. Never ask, "So what do you think of Biden?", for example. The don't know you either, so regardless of which side they are on, they'd probably lie.
-
I research before ever interviewing. Often candidates will leave clues as to who they are in linkedin. Look at posts and what groups they belong to. Sometimes you can get lucky and find their social media.
-
If you email with them, do they virtual signal to other lefties with things like "think before you print"?
-
If they make it on site.... do they have hair color by crayola? Rainbow flags anywhere? On the other side, do they have a Cross lapel pin or jewlery?
-
If your company requires masks, do they have a custom or designer face mask?
-
If your company does NOT require masks, don't wear one and see if they reciprocate on their own.
-
Be willing to settle for a less than perfect candidate that has the right social attitude. Its FAR easier to teach new skills than change beliefs.
I'm sure others will have some great ideas as well.
