I’m not sure I understand. There is a Nobel in physics, which is essentially just applied math. Nobel prices for medicine are often awarded for physiological discoveries.
Nothing in science is good or bad, it’s about how people use it. Nitroglycerin is a bomb in large quantities and a heart medication in small quantities.
Hell, even splitting the atom only promises a lot of energy. It’s an awesome discovery. How will we use the energy from that discovery? That’s a different question, but it doesn’t take away from the discovery itself.
Is it possible the Nobel is just a coordinated popularity campaign? Absolutely! Plenty of worthy people get snubbed, and plenty of people get awarded for doing almost nothing but being famous (like a certain former POTUS).
And there are plenty of Nobel winners that were either wrong, or went on to endorse insane beliefs on the credibility of “having a Nobel.”
Even Nobel himself was basically a weapons manufacturer. The Nobel prize was a private award he established with his own name on it. Nobody assumes there was a very objective or altruistic goal in the establishment of this award.
I don’t think you can necessarily identify an evil plot just by it receiving a mainstream scientific award. That’s no better than blindly accepting or rejecting whatever you see on the news. There’s no reason to give the mainstream academic ceremonies that much control over what you believe.
Also, FWIW, Obama donated his prize money to charity.
