It is literally the only drug on the planet you cannot overdose on. It puts you at ease if you do not overdo it and if you do overdo it then it just makes you tired.

I do not believe this is true. I do not believe there's enough medical research out there on long-term marijuana use to say you can't overdose on it (might depend on your definition of "overdose"), although I'm willing to be proven wrong. Anecdotally, I have a childhood friend who smoked pot for years, especially during brain development years, who now says she notices an inability to think or concentrate clearly (when in the past she used to). She credits this to her heavy-handed pot smoking, but she also did a lot of other drugs -- so who knows.

I agree with you, in that rules need to apply, but marijuana is not the same as alcohol in the body. You metabolize alcohol. You do not metabolize marijuana, and it should be treated differently (but not necessarily lightly, or lighter than we treat those who drive or work intoxicated).

Somewhat unrelated: I've also noticed a lot of anger or defensiveness from those who smoke marijuana (not the CBD users), when it comes to usage. This, in my opinion, tells me marijuana is not a "safe drug". It doesn't help that I'm fiercely allergic to it and it smells terrible, but I digress! If something can be used to garner such an emotional reaction, it can be used to manipulate you.

I know many on this site will disagree with me, and I'm not looking for agreement -- here least of all. Just some food-for-thought, I suppose.
