It isn't just them, but they are one of the greatest offenders.

It is my suspicion that they are simply suppressing/hiding a strike of their employees. It would not be the first time.

Other, more speculative, ideas are that this is the beginning of "keeping cattle where they are", the prelude (or reaction) to war, concerns about the bioweapon mosquitos they have just released (stop infectious people from moving around too much), supply chain "national security" concerns, and/or 5g/cyberattacks making safe travel in many planes impossible (or so they have been counciled by "agencies" that also recommend they do not disclose these recommendations/concerns).
