I do have a plastic tool for color matching when painting that I also use to gauge straight lines and keep between my hand and paper
You need something disposable. I have some plastic protractors that I used in college that have enough graphite in them to use as a pencil on their own. Graphite is very tiny, so it gets into just about every material. Eventually, it builds up enough to be a pest.
Sucks that you have to burn through paper to draw on paper, but thems how it do...
