I am a keen observer of body language and microexpressions. It's something I've always done. I watch videos of people who are domestic violence victims (or perps) or witnesses to a crime, or parents/siblings being interviewed about a missing family member. I turn off the audio and just watch them. Their movements often tell me what I need to know. Then I go back and watch with the audio on and see if that is in contradiction to their body language. It often is. For example:

22 Years ago, there was a little 11-year-old girl who went missing in my state. She had been out in front of her house with her sister and heard the ice cream truck. She told her younger sister she would go find him and buy them an ice cream. She rode her sister's bike down the street and never came home. Her bike was found laying on the sidewalk, wheels still spinning along with two dropped quarters. On the news that night and days after when her parents were interviewed, I was struck by how her father was smiling, even jovial and seemed almost happy to be on camera (he was a good-looking man) and even the mother had barely a sniffle, but their words were all about their worry and concern... but if you just looked at their faces...something was not right.

It was so odd that I felt the Dad was in on it and the mom knew, but was too afraid to say so. (Mom was home when it happened. Dad was allegedly at work.) The case has never been solved.
