Unknown if we will ever find out what happened to the real JFK. I have seen some breadcrumbs, but they are very limited and sketchy. Here's one:
I believe the end of the movie "Legends of the Fall" (1994) narration about "Tristan" living a long life and watching his family grow is a reference to what really happened in 1963. One identity died, but another was born (or a ladder was borrowed if you want to use a Gattacca reference).
He was killed by a bear in the movie...possibly also symbolic. It was the same bear he took a claw from when he was a boy and refused to kill with a rifle when he was a young man. The spirit of the man and the bear were bound together.
Who is "Tristan"? He was a Knight of King Arthur's Round Table (i.e. Camelot) and a tragic hero: http://www.thinkbabynames.com/meaning/1/Tristan
