Then let me expound on it.
Say I have a meteic tonne of flower. Currently that is worth what? Let us assume hypothetically it is currently worth a 1000 bucks.
However, I could live a 1000 days of it.
Now the dollar system collapses. My stash of flower is worth 5.000.0000 dollars. Everything has become more such that more dollars need to be exchanged for the same items.
Does it change the amount of time I can live of it? No it does not.
I did not get rich. I saved a portion of my earnings and put them in utilities I can use for my survival, my life.
In such a scenario, where other people might find it difficult to find flower at all, I might be tempted to sell / exchange some of it for something you can use. Say I exchange 2 pounds of flower for say a gallon of milk. Why?
Now I can make pancakes.
Is it my right to exchange a pound of flower for goods and services? Yes. It is my property and I can dispense with it in any way I see fit. I can dote on my neighbors, my church, or not.
Another pound will maybe land me a pound of butter, etc, and with a few apples from my apple tree, I can make an apple pie.
In other words I have assets to support my life.
Now a smuck like you comes along with nothing to his name and expects to be fed and you offer nothing in return.
Would it be right to require you to do work to be fed? Earn your living? What if you were a chick and you can offer me settling down and a family. We negotiate and come to an understanding. So now the 1000 kilo's of flower will help you survive.
We could also make a different deal. I hire you to help guard my infra structure. Does that make me rich? Does that make you rich? No, it helps both of us survive.
However there is a deal. And when you give your word, you are man enough to come through on it? Loyalty to your own integrity would command you to do so.
These are simple mechanism based on virtue.
Of course the government can try to impose a forfeiture scheme so that no one has such resources and all reverts back to the government in order to feed the masses for a couple of days. The government does that by mandates ( think 1933 gold confiscation) or taxes. Think the 1000% tax on firearms.
This is stealing. And all are miserable.
The government might even use force to impound my resources and try and kill me if I reject compliance. However, having been hired to help me guard my stuff, you are duty-bound to help me in my non-compliance.
Objectively, having such resources does not make me rich. And it does not preclude me from acting in such a way as to alleviate suffering in cases where it is thought to be fitting. However, that is a descision left to the one having the resources, not the one betting on others to save him.
The simple rule of possession here is this: it is mine and I decide what to do with it.
How did those 1000 kilos of flower come into my possession? By graft like Bill Gates or Nancy Pelosi did? No, I worked and used my own life force to mutate a portion of it into a resource.
It is like stored energy. It is my life force. And you have no right to demand or even expect to have a claim on my life force.
If you want to come into my vessel, you better have permission and pull your weight.
The question is: are you a stupid virgin who fell asleep without oil, or a wise one who has her lamps fitted with oil?
