Catholics do not worship idols. Catholics go to Mass on Sunday to WORSHIP and ADORE the Eucharist, which is the real body and blood of Jesus Christ.
The pictures of saints and the crosses are mere reminders and help us keep our focus while we meditate on the wonders of God. Just like you would have a picture of your mother in your home, we have a picture of Mary in our home. She is our Mother and Jesus Christ gave her to us to be our Mother when he was dying on the cross.
It is incredibly rich and beautiful religion and I promise that we do not worship anything BUT God.

I understand where your concern comes from. I was not always a Catholic and I had huge misunderstandings about Catholicism before I gave it an honest look. I, too, thought they worshipped idols and Mary.
You can try to prove them wrong the whole way. The truth does not fear investigation.
