I didn't see this in the comments yet, but China funds some of the Hollywood products and also pays to 'edit' anti-chinese rhetoric or symbolism out of the films. Latest case I can think of - In the Maverick (top gun sequel type), Cruise had a patch of Taiwan on his jacket and China tried to pay to get it removed from the film - Somehow, the patch stayed in the movie. I heard once that Cruise refused to remove it from his jacket to refilm but Idk if that's the actual truth.
