I don't know a whole lot about the guy other than some years ago I remember when a bunch of left-wing Japanese were calling him a fascist for trying to create a national military beyond their basic security forces.

Edit: watching a live feed on YT rn and a bunch of the commenters are celebrating it, saying he got what he deserved... others are already blaming China (on no evidence apparently).
